Part of the Vitalis Light Animal Wellness Library.
This library has been thoughtfully created by Vitalis Light to help you better understand how animals experience energy, connection and emotional support — especially during times of travel, transition, and change.
Together even when you are apart
Shared Reiki sessions support both the animal and the person who loves them within the same session, a form of distance Reiki designed to maintain the emotional connection between a companion animal and their guardian, even when physical separation is part of the experience.
The bond between animals and the people who love them is deeply intuitive. Guardians notice that their companion animals respond to their emotions, routines, and presence in ways that feel almost unspoken.
When separation occurs through travel, work schedules, or temporary distance, that connection can still be felt on both sides.
Shared Reiki sessions were created to support this relationship directly. Through this approach, both the companion animal and their guardian participate in the same Reiki session simultaneously, even while physically apart.
Rather than offering Reiki only to the animal, the session intentionally includes both participants within the same energetic field. This allows the experience to support not only the animal, but also the emotional connection that exists between them.
How shared connection sessions work
During a shared session, Reiki is offered simultaneously to both the companion animal and the guardian in real time.
The animal remains comfortably within their familiar environment, whether that is at home, resting in their favorite place, or being cared for by a trusted caregiver. The guardian joins the session remotely, allowing both participants to remain present within the same energetic field.
Reiki works through intention and energetic awareness rather than physical contact. Distance does not limit the ability of the session to support both sides of the relationship.
Many guardians find that knowing they are participating in the same moment of calm energetic support as their companion animal creates a powerful sense of reassurance and connection.
Why supporting both sides matters
Animals are highly attuned to the emotional states of the people they trust. Dogs, cats, horses, and other companion animals sense subtle shifts in routine, mood, and environment.
When guardians travel or experience stress, animals respond to these changes even when they cannot see or hear their person directly.
When a Reiki session holds both animal and guardian within the same energetic field, the environment of the relationship itself begins to settle. The animal can relax more naturally, and the guardian remains actively connected to their companion.
The intention is not to force a particular outcome, only to create a calm, balanced energetic field where both participants can experience steadiness and reassurance. A cultivation of shared peace.
Situations where shared sessions may be helpful
Shared Reiki sessions can be especially meaningful during moments when animals and their guardians are temporarily separated.
These situations include:
- Travel or extended time away from home
- Separation anxiety in dogs, cats, or other companion animals
- Changes in routine or caregiving environments
- Recovery from illness or medical treatment
- Emotional adjustment during life transitions
Both participants remain part of the same session. Guardians find that shared sessions help maintain a sense of connection during periods when physical presence is not possible.
Reiki is offered as a complementary practice and is always intended to accompany, never replace, veterinary care, behavioral support, or any other appropriate professional guidance.
The Vitalis Light approach
Shared Reiki sessions, including the Vitalis Light Shared Connection Method™, are a foundational part of the work offered through Vitalis Light.
This approach was developed to support the emotional and energetic bond between animals and their guardians in a way that honors both participants equally.
Rather than focusing only on the animal or only on the guardian, the session allows the relationship itself to remain supported.
Many people discover that this shared experience creates a quiet sense of continuity, a reminder that connection does not disappear simply because distance exists.
Continuing the connection
Every animal responds to energetic support in their own way. Some settle quickly into rest. Others experience a calmer environment during and after the session.
Reiki is offered gently and respectfully, allowing both animal and guardian to settle into only what feels comfortable and supportive in that moment.
For those who travel frequently or who wish to maintain a deeper sense of connection with their companion animals, shared Reiki sessions offer a meaningful way to remain present with one another, even across distance.
