Horses evolved as herd animals whose lives were built around movement, grazing, and constant social interaction with other horses.
While many horses today are cared for in attentive environments, modern care settings can differ greatly from the natural rhythms horses evolved within. Time spent in stalls, limited movement, reduced herd interaction, and the demands of training or competition can sometimes leave sensitive horses carrying tension within their bodies.
As prey animals, horses have highly attuned survival instincts and a naturally responsive, flight-based nervous system. This makes them especially sensitive to stress, environmental changes, and the emotional states of those around them.
Horses also naturally mirror the emotional and energetic state of the humans who work with them. When a handler becomes calm and grounded, the horse often responds in kind.

Reiki is not something performed on the horse. It is the universal energy already present in all living things. The session itself is an intentional focus of that energy, allowing the horse to receive what is already there. In daily life, the constant motion of our world rarely allows for that kind of quiet reception.
This is the same natural state of restoration that occurs in a deep sleep, when the body quiet and it is allowed to do the steady, ongoing work it naturally knows how to do. A woman expecting a child instinctively place her hands on her belly. Someone who has injured their leg will hold it in their hands, close their eyes, and tip their head back. These gestures arise without thought, because the body already knows. Reiki sessions are a gentle, intentional version of the same.
Bruce Taylor, who's teachings informed this practice, describe the heart of this work as the cultivation of peace. That phrase carries the spirit of what these sessions offered to horses and to the people who loved them.
These sessions are not training, behavioral correction, or veterinary treatment. They create a calm energetic environment that supports the horses natural ability to settle, regulate, and restore balance.
Sessions are performed remotely through distance Reiki, which has been a recognized part of Ricky practice since it's origins over a century ago. The horse is able to remain comfortable within their normal environment, in a barn, paddock, pasture, corral, stall, or home environment. Since distance Reiki does not require physical contact, there is no disruption to the horses routine, and no geographic limit to the work.
This work serves a wide range of horses. Performance and competition horses navigating travel, intense training cycles, and the pressure of show season. Horses recovering from injury, surgery, or living alongside chronic conditions. Breeding horses moving through falling, weaning, or seasonal behavioral changes. Senior horses, horses adjusting to a new environment or a new owner, and horses whose people simply want to offer steady energetic support over time.
What to expect: once a session is booked, you'll receive a short email confirming the time. For live sessions, a video connection to the horse is set up through a barn camera, phone, or Zoom. The camera is positioned wherever the horse naturally spends time, in their stall, paddock, or wherever they are most likely to rest. The horse is free to move, eat, drink, lie down, or stand throughout. They are never restrained or asked to participate in anyway. Some horse is visibly relaxed during the session. Other simply settle into a quieter state. Both responses are common, and both are right

This session is performed using a live video view of the horse through a barn camera, phone, or Zoom connection. A live visual connection is required, allowing for a deeper energetic awareness of the horse's presence during the session.

The horse remains within their normal environment throughout, free to move naturally and to receive the session in whatever way feels right to them.

A shared energetic session designed for both horse and owner, applying the Shared Connection Method™ to the equine partnership.
