Frequently Asked Questions
Can Reiki support my animal who is experiencing anxiety or stress?
Many guardians book sessions when their animal is experiencing anxiety, stress, or restlessness. Reiki is offered as a complementary form of energetic and emotional support, not as a treatment for any specific condition. Each animal responds individually, and sessions are intended to accompany, never replace, veterinary or professional behavioral care.
Can Reiki support an animal who has experienced rescue or trauma?
Reiki is often selected by guardians of rescue animals or animals navigating the long process of building trust after difficult experiences. Sessions are offered as a gentle, non-invasive form of energetic support intended to accompany ongoing rehabilitation and professional care. No outcome is promised. Reiki is offered in a spirit of calm presence, and each animal settles in their own way and in their own time.
Can Reiki support an animal in hospice or at the end of life?
End-of-life sessions are among the most tender offerings provided by Vitalis Light. Reiki is offered as a quiet, complementary presence during this sensitive time, for the animal, for the guardian, and for the relationship between them. Sessions are not intended to extend or alter the natural course of an animal's life and are always offered in coordination with veterinary and hospice care.
Can Reiki support a horse navigating behavioral changes, recovery, or transition?
Many equine guardians and trainers book Equine Energy Sessions when a horse is moving through change, recovery from injury, behavioral shifts, transition between homes, or stress related to training and competition. Reiki is offered as complementary energetic support and is not intended to replace veterinary care, professional training, or rehabilitation. Each horse responds in their own way.
What is the Shared Connection Method™ and how is it different from a standard session?
The Shared Connection Method™ is a proprietary approach in which the animal and the guardian are offered Reiki simultaneously, in real time, while connected together through Zoom. This shared experience is particularly meaningful for animals and guardians who are physically separated, during travel, hospitalization, or other circumstances, and for those who wish to deepen the energetic bond they share. The full method is described in more detail within the Animal Wellness Library.
What can a Travel Connection Session offer when I am away from my animal?
Travel Connection Sessions are designed for the specific experience of being physically separated from a beloved animal. Sessions are conducted live over Zoom using the Shared Connection Method™, with the animal in their home environment and the guardian wherever travel has taken them, so both are offered Reiki simultaneously despite the distance. Reiki is offered as a complementary form of energetic and emotional support during the separation, for the animal, the guardian, and the connection they share. Travel Support Packages are available across the duration of a trip.
What happens during a session?
Sessions begin with a brief connection over Zoom. Once everyone is settled, Reiki is offered to the animal, and to the guardian as well, in shared sessions. The atmosphere is intentionally quiet, calm, and unhurried. Reiki has its own intelligence and is never directed by the practitioner toward any specific outcome. Reiki is offered, and the animal settles into the calm in their own time.
Session length and structure vary by offering. An animal-only session runs approximately 30 minutes, with around 20 minutes of Reiki, and most animals settle quickly and rarely seek longer. A Guardian Reiki Session runs 60 minutes, with about 45 minutes of Reiki and time on either side to settle in and reflect afterward. A Shared Connection Method™ session runs 45 minutes, with 30 to 35 minutes of Reiki shared between the animal and the guardian simultaneously.
Does my animal need to sit still or behave in a particular way during a session?
No. Animals are welcome to participate in whatever way feels natural to them. Some rest quietly. Some move around within the room. Reiki is not dependent on the animal being directly in front of the camera. What matters is the calm, settled presence of the session, and animals often guide their own experience of it.
Many guardians angle the camera toward the animal's bed or favorite resting spot. Whether or not the animal stays there throughout the session, that space becomes part of the session's calm and remains a settled place afterward.
What if my animal will not stay near the camera or screen?
That is completely natural and is not a barrier to the session. Animals often move freely during sessions, sometimes drifting in and out of view. Reiki does not depend on the animal being seen, and the calm of the session is not interrupted by movement within the space. Many animals settle once the session begins, even if they are restless at the start.
How will I know my animal's Photo Session has been held?
For live Zoom sessions, the guardian, or, when applicable, a sitter or boarding facility caregiver, sets up the Zoom and is present as the session unfolds.
For Photo Based Sessions, the session takes place within two to three business days of receiving the submitted photograph. A follow-up message confirms when the session has been held. Photo Sessions are designed for flexibility, no live scheduling is required, and the guardian does not need to be present.
What do I need to participate in a live session?
A quiet space, a Zoom-enabled device, and a willingness to be present. Guardians joining a shared session are invited to lie down or settle comfortably in a calm space, eyes closed if that feels natural. Soft music is welcome. The session is an invitation to receptivity, there is nothing to perform, no posture required, and no preparation needed beyond arriving with openness.
How are sessions booked and scheduled?
All sessions are booked through the scheduling system available on each session page of this website. Available times reflect Vitalis Light's calendar in the corresponding time zone. Confirmation and a Zoom link are provided by email after booking. Sessions may be rescheduled with at least twenty-four hours notice.
When should I see a veterinarian instead of booking a Reiki session?
Always, for any physical, medical, or behavioral concern. Reiki is a complementary wellness practice and is never offered as a substitute for veterinary care, medical treatment, or professional behavioral support. Guardians are encouraged to seek appropriate professional care for any health concern involving their animal. Reiki may accompany that care as a supportive presence, but it does not replace it.
